Are all public holidays off and paid?

An employee may work on Sundays and holidays. The first of May is off except in the services which cannot interrupt their activity. In all cases, a weekly rest period of at least 24 consecutive hours and 11 hours of daily rest must be granted. (Source : Site officiel de l’administration française)
