Xavier AUTAIN
Avocat Paris
Even before being sworn in, Xavier—longtime rugby player—was naturally drawn to litigation.
His early years of practice introduced him to another form of collective combat: criminal law, under the mentorship of a renowned criminal lawyer. Early on, he also practiced closely related fields, including civil liability and insurance law, which remain at the core of his work today.
As society has evolved, so have legal practices.
The increase in offenses has expanded the scope of a lawyer’s interventions. Beyond traditional criminal law, economic actors have seen the development or emergence of specialized areas such as financial criminal law, labor criminal law, public criminal law, and consumer criminal law.
The scope of his interventions has evolved.
Before disputes arise, Xavier has developed an advisory practice aimed at preventing criminal risks, whether committed or suffered, thereby protecting businesses. To prevent potential crises, his team offers risk analyses, training, and the structuring of delegated powers, among other tools.
Xavier’s team knows how to develop strategies to safeguard clients’ interests.
The scale of cases has also grown—larger, more complex, and involving multiple actors, both individuals and legal entities. Xavier’s team devises strategies to structure and protect clients’ interests, while combining this with a thorough mastery of criminal procedure.
This is complemented with expertise in criminal procedure.
Xavier adapts to the economic and contextual realities in which his clients operate, providing tailored defenses. Concrete situations are met with effective responses, supported by the availability and responsiveness of the criminal law team.
Beyond criminal matters, the firm also handles guarantees and recovery of misappropriated funds before civil courts. Civil liability is another key area of intervention, whether in defense or claims, integrated with solid expertise in insurance law to serve clients’ interests.
Finally, for six years (three on the Paris Bar Council, three on the National Bar Council), Xavier was an elected representative of his profession, working on both ethics and disciplinary matters. In both institutions, he was responsible for the Public Affairs division, an experience that proved as useful as it was enriching.
Holds a postgraduate degree (DESS) from Université Paris I Panthéon-Sorbonne and the CAPA (Certificate of Aptitude for the Legal Profession) from the Paris Bar School.
